In India, Bachelor of Education (B.ED) is a graduate course offered for those interested in pursuing a career in teaching. The B.Ed. degree is mandatory for teaching at the secondary (classes 9 and 10) and higher secondary (10+2 or classes 11 and 12). The minimum qualification required for entry into B.Ed. course is Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). While students from the Arts stream are trained to teach subjects like History, Civics, Geography, and languages, the students from the Science stream are trained to teach Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The H.P. College of Education, Kala-Amb was established in the year 2003 under the patronage of Maa Saraswati Educational Trust, Kala-Amb with the objective to provide quality, modern and value based education affiliated to H.P. University Shimla & H.P. Board of School Education Dharmshala approved by N.C.T.E., Jaipur. The college offers B.Ed & D.El.Ed. courses and has a well-qualified staff. The college has a well-equipped library with large number of standard books both of education & general subjects. It is managed by well qualified librarian and Asstt. Librarian. Basic computer training & practical knowledge of computer is provided to all students by trained & well qualified computer teachers. All the students of the college are divided into five houses where their participation is compulsory. Besides this, the college has well equipped lecture halls, Science Lab, Educational Technology Lab, Psychological Labs, S.S. Lab, Language Lab, Conference Room Sports & Cultural Halls, Staff Rooms, Common Rooms & separate hostels for boys and girls.
